Approx. 45-50 minutes in duration

Premiered at LSU in Summer 2022
Performed at Fringe 2022 in Edinburgh Scotland
Over the summer of 2022 I went to the Edinburgh Fringe festival with the LSU physical theater program. We put on the show Dream Logos for a run of 15 shows in Scotland.
My role was the main composer, sound designer, and audio engineer for the live performances. This involved attending planning meeting sand rehearsals and creating all of the various sounds and music heard throughout the show. Because of the nature of the program, the majority of these tracks tend to be more abstract or environmental and serve to enhance the action on the stage. Following the completion of the show, we did 2 showings in Baton Rouge, LA, and 15 more at the Emerald Theatre at Nicolson Square in Edinburgh Scotland as part of the Fringe Festival happening in 2022. At all of these shows I was responsible for running all of the live audio as well. This included the proper cueing of tracks and sound effects, live-mixing in the space, and handling the various microphones used throughout the performance. Because of the nature of the festival, the rig for running all of this had to be light, functional, and quick to set up. See the images below for the creative solutions my professor and I came up with for this.
Plot
Traditionally speaking, Dream Logos doesn’t have a plot where specific named characters progress through a story and grow and change as you may be accustomed to. Dream Logos instead is a series of loosely connected dreams designed by the cast based on their own personal dreams and fears. We travel between various performer’s dreams with short interludes looking at their waking lives. Pay close attention to these quick days, ad these events influence the dreams happening at night. The most traditional aspect of the plot comes from a handful of scenes with Dr. Ma and their elderly grandmother. Dr. Ma is a sleepwalking neuroscientist working to better understand both sleep and the human condition. At the end, when the dreams have become thier darkest, a song begins. This song, Insomnia explores the general themes of the show while bringing the cast together where once they embrace each other and are finally able to peacefully sleep for the rest of the night.
TRacks/Scenes
These are the various tracks and scenes that I made the audio for. You can see the full video performance above on this page, but definitely check out the high-quality files listed here. They are listed in show-order. The majority of these files were created in approximately 2 weeks at a summer intensive where the specific direction and content of the show was planned, developed, and staged prior to leaving for Scotland. Whenever a collaboration occurred, the others are listed on the specific track.
Karaoke version of Insomnia coming soon!
