Interrupting Goose
For two performers sharing one Theremin
Approximately 4 1/2 minutes in duration.
Completed 1/22/2020 In Baton Rouge, LA.
Interrupting Goose has two performers utilizing one Theremin in order to create an interesting composite of sounds based on their hand movements. Each performer is instructed to make one of 3 shadow puppet hand signs that look like various animals in the reactive area of the Theremin, and periodically change them as instructed by the score. Occasionally one of the performers is instructed to make a specific hand sign which looks like a goose and to ‘take over’ any sounds that may be happening.
The performance area should be lit against a wall or screen so that the audience can see the shadow puppets as the piece progresses.
The performers should feel free to have a little fun, and move their puppets around as if they were the animals they were emulating.
