PHase Shift

Solo Organ

This is a piece for solo Organ. In this piece I have a set of chords, and I cycle through them at different rates. The goal for this piece is to represent the phenomenon of Phase Shifting. This is when two waves are vibrating at the same frequency, and are slowly brought apart. the difference in the frequencies create interference and the perception of new frequencies and beats. This composition was created with the Beckerath organ at Stetson University in mind, but the score also contains generalized pipe lengths and stop categories to allow for performance on various instruments.
