A short story. When you are the most comfortable, that is when the unknown can strike. Usually in a way we least expect.

The Cyberinet uses all of it’s base sensors during this composition. The full breakdown is:

  • gyroscope: controls audio processing

  • accelerometer: controls processing, playback volume, and DMX lighting

  • airflow: controls processing, playback volume, and DMX lighting

  • button: triggers audio playback and movement between sections of music

Story Text

The Text below is the story inspiration for the music. The narration audio in the performance comes from the full text shown below:

Software

The performer will require the Raindrops on a Tin Roof Max patch to run the electronics. This can be downloaded here. Max version 8.5 or newer is required to run the software patch. This can be downloaded for free (trial version) or purchased here. The patch should be compatible with both Mac and Windows devices, but if your operating system is giving errors, I recommend trying on a Windows PC as that was what most of the development was done on. If you are still having compatibility issues, please let me know via my CONTACT page.

The Specific Max Patch for this composition is still under development. When completed, it will be available for direct download through this page. You can find the most recent build at this GitHub repository. Keep in mind that these will be works-in-progress until the patch is made available directly on the webpage, and may not be properly functional until that time.

Hardware

The performer will need the following equipment to perform Raindrops on a Tin Roof:

  • Cyberinet Main Unit

  • Cyberinet Button Expansion

  • Computer with at least 3 USB ports

  • Audio Interface

  • 3-5 music stands (if performing with staging)

  • Fog machine (optional)

  • 2 DMX-Controlled Lights (optional)

  • 2 USB to DMX adapters (only required if using the lights) (allows the Max patch to control the lighting)

Staging Diagram

The image shown here breaks down the recommended staging for the performance of Raindrops on a Tin Roof.

Key:

  • Numbers: Music stand stations

  • Lights: DMX- controlled lights

If needed, the stage setup can be adjusted to meet the requirements of the performance venue. The staging is optional, but recommended to take full advantage of the Cyberinet’s sensors.
